This piece captures this duet of flowers well past its fresh bloom, but that's the whole point. Once the moisture leaves, the color doesn't just fade it shifts. What was bright and saturated settles into something deeper, more muted, closer to wine or rust than the original color. The petals pull in and tighten, losing that soft, open look and taking on a more compact, sculptural shape instead.

For this shot, I focused on that transformation rather than trying to fight it. There's a texture that only shows up once a flower dries brittle edges, fine creasing, a matte surface that catches light completely differently than fresh petals do. That's not a flaw. That's the image.

What I like about working with dried subjects is that you're not racing against anything. A fresh bloom is gone in days. This version of the flower just sits there, fully formed, letting you take your time with the shot. It's a different kind of beauty quieter, but it holds.
