This shot almost tricks the eye. Shallow depth of field pulled the petals so sharp against a soft, faded background that the bloom seems to lift right off the surface just like it's floating in front of the frame rather than sitting inside it. That's the effect I was after: not just a photograph of a flower, but something with real depth, the kind of image you want to reach out and touch.
